Privacy
Privacy notice.
This notice explains what information History Week UK 2027 collects when you register interest, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We have written it to be clear and plain.
Please note: This is a template notice for a site in development; final legal wording and the operating legal entity will be confirmed before launch. The contact details below will be kept up to date as History Week UK 2027 takes shape.
Who this notice is for
This notice covers people who choose to register interest in History Week UK 2027 through this website — for example, staff at schools, museums, galleries, archives, castles, theatres, libraries, local history groups and other cultural or civic organisations, and people or organisations interested in becoming founding partners or sponsors.
History Week UK 2027 is a national week of history, heritage and live learning, currently in development. This website lets you tell us you are interested in taking part so that we can keep you posted.
No pupil personal data is collected through this site
This website does not collect personal data about children or pupils. The interest forms are for adults registering on behalf of a school, organisation or sponsor. Please do not enter any pupil names, pupil contact details or other pupil personal information into the forms on this site.
What we collect
When you register interest, we collect only the details you choose to give us in the form. Depending on which pathway you use, this may include:
- Your name and email address
- Your role or job title
- Your school, organisation or company name
- Your country, and a town, city, region or postcode if you provide one
- A website address, if you provide one
- The type of organisation you represent (for venues and cultural partners)
- The age range or year groups you teach (for schools)
- Which parts of History Week interest you, or what you might offer or support
- Any free-text notes or description you choose to add
- Confirmation that you are happy to be contacted (your consent)
We do not ask for special category data (such as health, ethnicity or religious belief), and we ask that you do not include it in free-text fields.
How we collect it
We collect this information directly from you when you complete and submit an interest form on this website. We do not buy personal data, and we do not collect it from third parties for this purpose.
Lawful basis
We process the information you provide on the basis of your consent. When you submit an interest form you tick a box to confirm you are happy to be contacted about History Week UK 2027. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see your rights below) and we will stop contacting you.
How we use your information
We use the details you share to:
- Keep you posted about History Week UK 2027 as it takes shape
- Respond to your interest and any questions you raise
- Understand the level and type of interest from schools, venues and partners so we can plan the week
- Invite you, where relevant, to take part as plans develop
We will not use your details for unrelated marketing, and we will not sell your information.
Who can see your information
Your information is handled by the small team developing History Week UK 2027. We may use trusted service providers (for example, for email delivery or secure hosting) who process information on our behalf and only under our instructions. We do not share your details with cultural venues, schools or sponsors without your knowledge.
Where your information is stored
Interest registrations are stored securely on servers used to operate this website. Where any provider processes information outside the UK or European Economic Area, we will take steps to ensure it is protected to an appropriate standard.
How long we keep it
We keep your interest registration for as long as is reasonably needed to plan and deliver History Week UK 2027 and to keep you posted, and no longer than necessary. If History Week does not proceed, or if you ask us to remove your details, we will delete them. As a general guide, we expect to review and remove interest registrations within a reasonable period after the 2027 event, unless you have asked to stay in touch about future years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your information
- Ask us to restrict or object to how we use it
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Ask us to provide your information in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, or to ask a question about this notice, please email us at hello@historyweek.org. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.
